"It was the summer of 2017; I was alone in my one-bedroom apartment, curled in a ball on my couch, about to spiral down in my mind, when a familiar face came knocking at my door. My childhood friend Joëlle, whom I hadn’t seen in maybe a couple of years, suddenly popped up, her violin in hand, pulling me out of my brain fog. Jo and I had always kept in touch this way; we’d pop in and out, and whether it had been months or years, it always felt like no time had passed between us. Just like that, without knowing what I had been going through, she helped me pull my head out of the water when I needed a friend the most. I showed her the songs I had been working on and we naturally started to jam and sing together—me on the guitar and piano, her on the violin and accordion. We started making music, co-writing, and seeing each other regularly again. By that fall, we had booked a small performance at a house party as a band."

“NENEBIRD is our first recording project: 8 tracks (4 in English, 4 in French) balancing between indie pop and grungy punk rock, with a taste of French Chanson—an amalgamation of all my influences growing up in the 90s in Montreal. I grew up having to paint my own identity with no template in hand, just taking in what I loved and adopting each stroke from the various cultural references around me. My friends and foes: the songs in this project are a lot about them and their influence on me as we go along my self-searching journey. “
